Every furry baby deserves a treat once in a while, and what better than wholesome ones you make yourself? This dog treat recipe features peanut butter and banana and is very easy to make!

 

 

INGREDIENTS:


1 cup whole wheat flour

1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup natural peanut butter

1 tablespoon honey

1/2 cup oatmeal
1 large egg
1 ripe banana, mashed

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

In a large bowl, stir together egg, peanut butter, honey, banana, and olive oil.

Stir in flour and oatmeal; mix well.

Transfer dough to a parchment-lined board. Kneed several times until dough is smooth. Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness with rolling pin. Cut out desired shapes with cookie cutter and placed on prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 20-25 minutes until hard.

Let cool completely. Store in an airtight container up to one week. May be refrigerated or frozen for longer shelf life.

Yield: Varies depending on the size of your cookie cutter.  For a 4-inch bone shape*, recipe makes approximately 1 dozen treats.

       Resist the urge to make very thick cookies, as these will take a long time to harden.
       Recipe may be doubled.
